Health & Safety
As one of the UK’s leading flooring contractors we put a lot of energy into our Health and Safety record believing that by providing a positive culture, all will benefit. This filters down from management to employees. A good safety performance increases production and quality, giving our clients confidence in our ability to carry out projects with the correct procedures in place.
With the help of our consultants, Cathedral Safety Services, we have been recognised as a company that puts Health and Safety at the forefront of our operations. All our clients can be assured that our robust Health and Safety management system is compliant with all legislation and site safety is of paramount importance to us.
We are registered as an Accredited company within the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) which indicates that we have demonstrated compliance with, and sound management of, current basic health and safety legislation. We also hold the Gold Standard Certificate of Commitment to Construction Skills. All our fitters and management hold CSCS cards at the appropriate level, having passed the CSCS Health and Safety test. Regular H&S meetings are held and all the Personal Protective Equipment is checked every three months. Staff and subcontractors attend courses on different aspects of our work, such as Manual Handling, COSHH, Asbestos Awareness and Risk Assessment. All our team have been through the B&Q Passport to Safety training.
The Project Managers are responsible for the day to day H&S aspect of their projects. A Risk Assessment is carried out for all jobs and where requested the appropriate paperwork is supplied to the client.
Health & Safety Policy Statement
Environment
We recognize that we have a legal and moral responsibility to manage our activities in such a way as to reduce the detrimental impact on the environment. To this end we adopt a philosophy of 'beyond minimum compliance' at all levels of our operations to ensure that the impact of pollution and environmental disruption is reduced as much as possible. All our arrangements for waste disposal are managed in a responsible way and we recycle as much as possible. We are currently investigating an initiative to recycle vinyl flooring.
We are constantly reviewing the materials we use, making decisions on an environmental basis as well as best product for purpose. As you will see from our Products pages, we supply flooring such as wood, linoleum and rubber flooring which have a minimum impact on the environment. All our wood products have an FSC label. We are also pleased to supply and fit BRE ‘A’ rated carpets from Heckmondwike FB and Paragon Carpets.
